Hey, everyone, I’m Jon Dwoskin, an executive advisor and business coach. I work with successful business people who are stuck and want to take their business to the next level. Today, I will share with you some of my favorite things, which may help you grow not only your mindset but also your business. Take what works for you and shelve the rest for later, or share with someone you know will benefit. Get ready to grow your business big. Very big.

Welcome back to this week’s installment of My Favorite Things. My favorite book is You Can Negotiate Anything, by Herb Cohen. It’s an outstanding book. My absolute favorite negotiation trick that he gives is, if you’re on a phone call and you’ve lost complete control of the business negotiation, hang up on yourself talking. It sounds something like this: “Hey, Jon, let me answer your question. The answer to your question …” And then you hang up on yourself. Give yourself a minute or two to kind of collect your thoughts, and then you call back because the person who places the call is the one that has control. Then you call back and say, “Hey, I don’t know what happened.” Then you take control. I know a lot of times this works for executives. Don’t overdo this! I shouldn’t say executives – business people in general – because then you just look like a scammer. But when you need it and you’re in those anxious moments, utilize it. You’ll get a lot more tips out of the book.

My favorite podcast is The Wall Street Journal, What’s News podcast. You’re gonna like it. Filled with great information.

My favorite thing is Audible.com. I am an audible learner and I learn more when I listen to things. Audible.com has been a tremendous thing for me. It started off with talking books and listening to things on tapes. Audible.com has just made it so easy. So check out Audible.com.

My favorite app is really, all social media apps. I love social media. I think it’s great. Find what’s right for you. But really pay attention to where your target audience is and make sure that you are there. My favorite TED Talk is Tony Robins’ Why We Do What We Do. Tony Robins is also one of my favorite people. I just think the world of him. And my favorite quote is, “Complacency is the opposite of growth.”
