Many people today are so overwhelmed with their daily responsibilities, business development, making calls, going to meetings and the dozens of other duties they have on a regular basis. What they forget to do is prioritize these tasks to what is the most urgent and important for the day, the month, the quarter and the year.

Here are some best practices, tools and strategies to organize your day, your desk – and your mind. The result will be less disruptions, a sharper focus and increased revenue.

  • Get Ready: Before you leave the office, organize and prioritize your next day.
  • Be Specific: Have a running list of your top three leading activities that are specific and measurable each day.
  • Own Your Time: Start coming in 15 minutes earlier and staying 15 minutes later a minimum of three days per week.
  • Get Your Calls Ready: Before you leave the office, get your calls teed up for the next day in your CRM so you know who you’re contacting – and why.
  • Use Sundays Wisely: Spend 30-60 minutes every Sunday prepping and getting ready for the week ahead. This will get you organized and ready to grow your business.
  • Take Executive Time: It is critical that you take time to just think about and plan your business. Make sure you spend a minimum of 30 minutes each week to work ON your business rather than stay stuck IN your business.
  • Have a Plan: If you don’t have a detailed business plan with specific and measurable goals, get one. You can’t scale the heights you want without it.
