Discovering Your Confidence as an Entrepreneur

-

Alex Tyler opened Goldfish Swim School St. Charles in August of 2013. In May of 2017, Tyler opened a second Goldfish location in Glen Ellyn. The Birmingham, Michigan native first dove into this business venture after connecting with the thriving Goldfish location in his hometown. As a Northwestern University graduate, Tyler felt that the greater Chicago area was the perfect place for a swim school – and as a lifelong swimmer, he felt it was important to help other children learn this essential skill.

Tyler was first exposed to swimming at age 4 when his parents (who swam competitively in college) began teaching him the sport. After his family lessons, he transitioned on to his middle school, high school and club swim teams. While attending Northwestern University, he joined the swim team, where he earned two All-American honorable mentions and participated in multiple Big Ten Championship races. Following his graduation in 2011, he began exploring the option of opening a Goldfish Swim School.

Both of Tyler’s Goldfish Swim School facilities have become trusted community resources for water safety and swim instruction. Alex’s enthusiasm and love of the sport of swimming have proven to be real assets in successfully managing his business and promoting water safety for all families. Tyler wants children to develop the confidence and skills to be safe AND have fun in the water.
