Q: What separates pros from almost-there?
A: Fundamentals. Consistency. Authentic leadership.
I sat down with Jack Miller, Southeast Michigan President at Hylant, and we went deep on the habits that compound in sports and business.
5 Key Takeaways:
1️⃣ Fundamentals beat flash: Talent is gravy, consistency is the meal.
2️⃣ Culture makes consistency possible: Tools, feedback, celebration, fun.
3️⃣ Control the controllable: Prepare so deeply performance feels automatic.
4️⃣ Sell inside the building as much as you sell outside.
5️⃣ Pressure is a privilege: Fall in love with the process.
If you’re leading a team (or your own career), this episode will sharpen your edge.

Following a successful football career and graduation from the University of Michigan, Jack Miller joined Hylant as an insurance producer, specializing in complex disability programs for the college and professional sports industry. He quickly rose to a leadership position within the company, embracing Hylant’s mission to treat clients and employees like family—with honesty, respect and trust.
Miller also has a passion for philanthropic opportunities, something he attributes to his upbringing and the community-centric culture at Hylant. He is on the board of Leaders for Kids and St. John’s Jesuit High School, and a member of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation.
