My massage therapist asked me what changed. I told her I'd just seen a shamanic medium.

I'd known about Lori Lipten for almost 20 years before I finally booked a session. The day after my first one, she said my back felt like a kid's, no knots anywhere. I told her my dad had come through and apologized for something, and I let it go.

On today's episode of Coffee with Jon, Lori Lipten talks about her journey to becoming, and being, a shamanic medium.

3 highlights:

1. Lori was on the treadmill when she felt an angel touch her forehead and say the name ""Thomas,"" a boy who'd passed away. She made one phone call to a woman she barely knew, and that call became the first reading she ever gave. She never set out to be a medium. It found her.

2. Her framework for intuition is "attune, align, allow." Drop into your heart, notice when you're contracting versus expanding, and let that be your signal before you react instead of respond.

3. Before she ever took a paying client, Lori spent 10 to 12 years quietly honing her gift in private. Nobody sees that part. They only see the moment it looks like it happened overnight.

Lori said it best: figure out your gift, then ask, "What do you want me to do with it?"
