Scott: Hey, Jonny, what’s going on?
Jon: Scott, how are you, man?
Scott: I’m doing good. Long time no speak. At least in a podcast.
Jon: I know. You know what? It’s good to take some breaks a little bit because it’s good to give our listeners a time to catch up on all the other podcasts that they haven’t listened to or re-listen to them.
Scott: Exactly. We have some announcements for you today, folks. First and foremost, I don’t know if you noticed that the intro was a little bit different this week.
Jon: Yeah, I think that’s a good thing. Let’s tell everybody why.
Scott: Yeah, so well, we still have Audible as a sponsor. They’re still on our website, but we’re not running commercials because we want to make sure that we get to the meat of the situation for you. We want you guys to get to the good info right away.
Jon: Right. Not to, you know, for other people it’s fine, but Scott and I listen to so many podcasts and we find it so irritating that the intros are longer or I find myself doing the fast forward 15 seconds and they do commercials throughout. So we’re going to prevent that and get you to the, like Scott said, get you to really the good content faster.
Scott: Right, no commercials on this show. We’re commercial free here. Like HBO.
Jon: 10 minutes of commercial free-ness.
Scott: 7-ish, 15 minutes, whatever it takes.
Jon: Right, exactly. All right, another reason we wanted to do this and I pushed Scott to do this, was because Scott has published his first book. Congratulations, Fish, congratulations. It’s an incredible sales book. I’ve read it from cover to cover. It’s incredible. I pushed him a little bit because he did not want to do a bombastic launch, but I said, “Scott, you got too much talent and you wrote everything from the heart. There’s too much good stuff.” Scott, tell us about the book.
Scott: Thanks, Jon. I’m blushing. Speaking of not doing commercials on this show … But there is a reason why we rushed this out today. My book, The 30 Minute Sales Coach, Presents Sell Smarter, Seven Simple Strategies for Sales Success launched this week. It is free tomorrow and Thursday, September 14 and September 15, 2016, is free on Amazon.
Jon: Nice.
Scott: We’ll put a link in the show notes. It really is. It’s just a lot of the stuff that we talk about on the show coming directly from my voice. I know Jon and I sometimes talk and he says, “That’s not going to play for my audience.” So we change them for him in little bits. This is coming directly from my voice. It’s no way endorsed by Jonathan Dwoskin, but we did want to make sure that we got it out here. Especially because it is free to you for the next 2 days.
Jon: So, Fish, tell us a little bit about the book. Give us a couple, one or two or three highlights that people are going to be able to walk away with or grow their sales and sell smarter.
Scott: Well, for sure. What I did was I kind of took it from kind of the turning negatives into a positive approach. We talked about it once in the podcast. Getting out of your own way. What I found is there’s a lot of reasons why we do get in our own way in sales. I wanted to make sure that I broke those down. I’ve got a large list of them that I’m going to roll out in a few books, but we went over seven major ones in this first one. Different reasons why we do get in our way.
One of the things that we talk about in the podcast a lot is just listening. So I break that down in a fun and interactive way. I also have little homework assignments that you can do at the end of each chapter. It’s designed to be about 30 minutes per chapter. It works out really well. The way I look at it, if you do one chapter of The 30 Minute Sales Coach and listen to one episode of The Seven Minute Sales Minute, that’s 210 minutes of sales goodness that you’re getting right there.
Jon: That’s good. Those are some good numbers.
Scott: Yes.
Jon: You know, I just want to give you a shoutout, too. You’ve always been a good writer. We’ve talked about this on the show a bunch of times. Scott and I have been friends since we were 14-15 years old. We all went to college together and when we would take Blue Book Philo – we had philosophy together – we’d take a Blue Book test. You had to write out essays and Scott would finish his first in the class. It would be five or 10 minutes into the class and I think I was always the last one. I had to write the last sentence and get everything in that I could. So you’ve always been a great writer. You’ve shown your talent in your book and I’m excited for people to read it, for people to experience it and for your next handful of books to come out.
Scott: Yeah, me too. Absolutely. It was fun to do and it’s been an absolute blast. A crazy learning experience of learning how to put a book on Kindle. It’s not as easy, but it’s also not as hard as you might think. I’ve learned a ton and if anybody ever has questions, you can reach out to me. But please, folks, go to 30minutesalescoach.com. That’s 30, 3-0 minutesalescoach, spelled out, .com.
Jon: All right.
Scott: For your copy for free.
Jon: Any last thoughts?
Scott: I just want to make sure that people download the book, actually read it and review it on Amazon because you are getting it for free. So that’s the only thing that I ask is that people actually review the book. Something else, we’ve got a lot of good episodes coming down the pipe and I want to make sure people tune in. We are not just putting this out as a commercial for my book. We do have episodes coming out starting this coming weekend, so please tune in. There’s more episodes on the way.
Jon: All right. Go get Scott’s book. You’ll love it. You’ll love it. If you don’t love it, I’ll pay you back for it.
Scott: All right. Thank you very much. Jon will pay back the whopping zero cents that you paid for it. Thank you very much everybody.
Jon: Thanks everybody. Fish, congrats, man.
Scott: Thank you. Thank you, Jon.
